The design and performance details of building materials are critical to architects planning renovations and new construction. In fact, many home styles are constructed with roofing materials already in mind. As a manufacturer of premium roofing products, Malarkey has made a concerted effort to provide the most up-to-date and concise architectural information available online to our customers. The Architectural Resources page on our website features libraries of technical products documents and references to specification files available through partnering industry associations.
Next week at the International Roofing Expo® (IRE) in New Orleans, the preeminent roofing construction and maintenance event, John Kouba, director of technical services at Malarkey Roofing Products, will join other industry leaders during a panel on the proper installation of asphalt roofing shingles. John has been involved in the manufacturing of asphalt based roofing products since 1993 and has conducted over 6,000 roof inspections.
With 2017 drawing to a close, we look back on the 61st year of Malarkey Roofing Products®. This year was shaped by sustainable product innovations, impressive roofing contractor projects, and inspiring style trends for the modern home. In the following, we’ll recap some highlights from another memorable year.
The slow season poses an excellent opportunity to inquire about the Malarkey Certified Contractor Program for those who haven’t already. The slow season is also a good time for roofing contractors and their crews to attend trade shows and other industry events or continue their education and refresh their knowledge base. Malarkey Certified Residential Contractors can earn a badge based on specific criteria, training, and overall professional experience. These specialized badges also signify the elevated professionalism of the Certified Residential Contractor for homeowners and potential customers.
The Malarkey Roofing Products 2018 tradeshow calendar, as we shared in last week’s blog post, is up-to-date and live on our website here. There are a variety of shows that Malarkey will be at this coming year, and we invite contractors to join us in attending some of these great shows. Whether it’s a builder’s show for general contractors or regional meeting for roofing contractors specifically, look for our booth.
As a member of the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA), a trade association representing North America’s asphalt roofing manufacturing companies and suppliers, Malarkey Roofing Products invites contractors to share their stories, and submit their best Malarkey roofs to the annual Quality Asphalt Roofing Case Study (QARC) awards. Each year, the contest awards three winners. The winners will be featured in a special ARMA publication, and have their stories told in national trade media. There are also financial incentives as well: $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second, and $500 for third.
On opposing ends of the Portland, Oregon metro area this summer, two homeowners in need of significant roof repairs became beneficiaries of the good work of Catalyst Partnerships, a community-based, volunteer home repair organization plus materials provided by Malarkey Roofing Products®.
There are a lot of great resources available to help present the Malarkey Roofing Products shingle line. In addition to the numerous digital resources about Malarkey Roofing Products within this website, we have recently designed residential roofing shingle brochures for the laminate and designer shingle lines. The printed brochure booklets are full of gorgeous, glossy images of stunning homes featuring Malarkey shingles. For contractors and distributors, these brochures are excellent pieces to share with homeowners and help them make informed choices for their roofing needs.
This tool is exceptionally valuable for homeowners considering a major change in roof style or trying to decide between two different shingle colors. The Malarkey Roof Designer provides engaging and easy-to-use options to upload a photo of a home or redesign a roof on model homes.
For busy roofing contractors, devoting time to an industry association may be placed far below the daily tasks to maintain a business. Yet many of these organizations are comprised of other contractors that have similar concerns and schedules, so they are created to benefit a business, not deter from it. In fact, there are many benefits to joining an industry association, and great value in participation.
