The Malarkey Roofing Products 2018 tradeshow calendar, as we shared in last week’s blog post, is up-to-date and live on our website here. There are a variety of shows that Malarkey will be at this coming year, and we invite contractors to join us in attending some of these great shows. Whether it’s a builder’s show for general contractors or regional meeting for roofing contractors specifically, look for our booth.
What You Can Expect at the Malarkey Booth
First and foremost, at the Malarkey booth, you will find the latest news and innovations in our 2018 lines of shingle products, low slope materials, underlayments and more. Many of these products will be on hand for attendees to see samples of our exciting new materials and attractive color blends. Our team of experts will be available to answer your questions in person.
Furthermore, for everyone that stops by the booth at these events, Malarkey will donate five dollars to YouthBuild. The non-profit organization has programs in the United States and across the globe for low-income young people to learn construction skills through building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people in their neighborhoods and other community assets such as schools, playgrounds, and community centers. With a deep history of community involvement, we’re looking forward to supporting YouthBuild in their efforts to educate future generations of contractors build reliable homes for those in need.
Last but not least, we usually host hospitality in our booths featuring beer and cookies (why cookies? find out here.) So, while you’re walking the show floor, know that you’ll find refreshment at the Malarkey booth, while supporting a good cause.
What You Can Expect at Each Show
In the first few months of 2018, we travel to more than a dozen different shows. These shows range from local conferences to international expositions with thousands of attendees and products. Finding the show that will best benefit your business and travel budget is key.
Many roofing contractors’ associations hold shows for their members each year. One of the largest, is the National Roofing Contractors Association which presents the International Roofing Expo. This year the expo will take place in New Orleans.
Regionally, state and area roofing contractors’ associations also have their own shows. We start our attendance this year in Montana, Colorado, Ohio, and Oklahoma. Then to the Chicago Roofing Contractors Association Trade Show, which is one of the largest shows in the Midwest.
For general contractors that also roof, builders’ shows can be a wise option to explore new products in the many facets that make up a structure. Our tradeshow year starts off with the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Florida, but also includes the Northwestern Building Products Expo in Minnesota, and the Hawaii Buildings, Facilities & Property Management Expo.
Book Travel & Accommodations Early
Hotels and lodging can fill up well before the show, so be sure to secure your room well in advance. After walking all day through the show, a long trip back to the hotel can be rough. Many shows even offer special rates for attendees, so see what the show offers and again – book early.
Scope Out the Schedule
Many shows begin with an opening event or keynote speaker. These sessions are great ways to kick off the festivities, and get motivated for the day ahead. For instance, NBA Hall of Famer, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, will be speaking at the Malarkey-sponsored keynote address at International Roofing Expo this year.
It is also prudent to plan or sign up for any specific informational sessions that would benefit your business. Sessions on marketing, safety, and much more are often available to attendees. These shows can additionally be great networking opportunities, so planning for meetings with suppliers and distributors can be beneficial.
Enjoy the Show
While roofing is our business, we know seeing old and new faces is one of the best reasons to visit these shows. Most shows have lunches, entertainment or other social events to build comradery in the building industry. So please, come by our booth, have a snack or refreshment, and share a story or laugh.
