On our Instagram feed, we regularly feature great roofing projects with our roofing shingles and tag them #roofingexcellence. There are literally hundreds of roofs on this feed demonstrating award-winning work from skilled roofing contractors throughout North America. Thankfully, the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturing Association has a program designed to award (with $ prize money $!) the year’s best roofing projects, and the deadline is December 31, 2018.
The Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards Program
The reinvigorated Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards Program (formerly known as the QARC awards) seeks to recognize industry professionals who use asphalt roofing for both steep and low slope in beautiful, creative and impressive applications. The award-winning projects illustrate the beauty, affordability and reliability of residential and commercial asphalt roofing systems. Many winning projects showcase asphalt shingles to match a unique design aesthetic or to blend with the environment of a home. These installations demonstrate the numerous challenges that asphalt roofing can help to solve.
Each year submissions are judged by a panel of roofing industry experts, including leaders from multiple trade associations, architects and members of the media. The judges look for projects that use asphalt roofing technology to provide durability, value and curb appeal.
But What About the Prize Money?
Winners of ARMA’s Excellence in Asphalt Roofing have truly demonstrated an exceptional level asphalt roofing craftsmanship. The winners are recognized with cash prizes (Gold – $2,000; Silver – $1,000; Bronze – $500), national media exposure in key roofing industry publications and more.
Using Malarkey Shingles Makes a Difference
In 2017, Colorado roofing contractor Paul Aragon and his crew at Jireh 7 Enterprises received an honorable mention for their Windsor® designer roofing shingle project in the color Antique Brown. This color not only matched the tan tones of the home, but also echoed the colors of the surrounding landscape. The high profile of the heavy-weight designer roofing shingle also enhanced the texture of the home’s exterior.
How to Apply
Through this link on the ARMA website, contractors can easily apply. Most importantly, contractors should share why asphaltic shingles products were the best choice for the project. Necessary details include the job size, location, and roofing professionals involved. The case study submissions are open to contractors, specifiers, engineers, architects, and roof consultants.
In addition to having a well-installed system on the roof, taking clean, high resolution images are key to showing off how well to completed project looks. It is also key to highlight the aspects of asphaltic roofing that influenced the selection for the project. These can aspects can include: reliable performance, availability, limited maintenance, and overall value.
Be sure to submit your project today. The submission deadline December 31, 2018. There is absolutely no fee to enter. There is no limit to the number of eligible submissions. ARMA welcomes both small residential projects as well as large commercial roofing projects.
