Gable Roof: The roof edge ends at a gable, which is a vertical triangular area at the end of a building.
Hip Roof: Roof with all sides sloping downward to the eaves; i.e., no gable ends.
Hipped Gable: A gable roof that is clipped short at the end to form a hip. Also known as a half-hip, shreadhead, or jerkinhead roof.
Dutch Gable: A gable on the top of a roof that transitions into a hip roof. Also known as a gablet.
