At Malarkey Roofing Products®, our year begins with a sprint out of the gate, attending numerous tradeshows in January and February. We then have a very busy spring, touring North America and sharing exciting product updates before the season really gets underway for roofing contractors. The response from attendees has been so good, in fact, we’ve decided to extend the NEX® road show calendar with events in Colorado, Texas, and Indiana.
Malarkey Roofing Products honors Earth Day, every day at all of our facilities, and we encourage our business partners to act sustainably as well. As a family company based in Oregon, we are especially focused on maintaining the quality of our business and environment for future generations. Over our six decades, we have continually sought to improve product performance and service life, while limiting impact on the environment. While we have always been focused on building a build a better roofing shingle, we also created innovative ways to do so more sustainably. Today, the key ingredient, the ‘super glue’ used in all of our roofing shingles is NEX™ polymer modified asphalt – made with polymers from upcycled materials. This is just one of the many ways we honor Earth Day, every day at Malarkey Roofing Products.
In collaboration with 3M, Malarkey Roofing Products® is excited to announce the inclusion of 3M™ Smog-reducing granules to our roofing shingle lines. What began with a vision and curiosity from our executive offices and research department has expanded into an opportunity for tangible positive change. These roofing products, designed to mitigate the nitrogen oxides found in smog, are more important than ever before.
Highlander® NEX™ is specifically designed for warmer, dry climates. Produced at our facility in Southern California, Highlander® NEX™ is fortified with sustainable Nexgen™ polymer modified asphalt technology for enhanced granule adhesion and UV resistance. These shingles will be initially available to all areas serviced by our South Gate facility.
Malarkey Roofing Products® manufactures building products to perform against the demands of severe weather events and ensure peace of mind. To accomplish this task, we develop innovative solutions to the problems of poor shingle performance in the face of severe weather. With partners such as 3M, who provide our roofing granules and produced a comprehensive Natural Disaster Hazard Assessment Guide, we aim to deliver dependable roofing products to our customers.
Since 2010, the West Coast region of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers has held an annual competition for apprentices. This year, representatives from the Malarkey Technical Services team served as judges in the event earlier this month in Pomona, CA. Malarkey also supplied 3-tab and laminate shingles for the steep slope roofing competition.
National Roofing Week, led by the National Roofing Contractors Association, is designed to “increase awareness across the U.S. about the significance of roofs to every home and business and share the good deeds of the industry. The week also promotes the importance of hiring a professional roofing contractor and making informed decisions about maintaining or replacing any roof system.” This year, Malarkey has taken upon an elevated role as a Partner Member of the NRCA's One Voice Initiative to promote our shared cause.
Malarkey Roofing Products® is dedicated to sustainability. For us, this means keeping roofing materials out of the waste stream and preserving the quality of life on our planet. Likewise, we aim to elevate and partner with like-minded roofing contractors to promote this value. For outstanding contributions in sustainability within the roofing industry Malarkey Certified Residential Contractors are eligible for the Envirogen™ Contractor Award.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Roofing Games™ at the Western States Roofing Contractors Association’s (WRSCA) Western Roofing Expo, Malarkey is bringing back former champions to deliver the most competitive event yet!

In fact, many home styles are constructed with roofing materials already in mind. As a manufacturer of premium roofing products, Malarkey has made a concerted effort to provide the most up-to-date and concise architectural information available online to our customers. The Architectural Resources page on our website features libraries of technical products documents and references to specification files available through partnering industry associations.
