Malarkey pioneered the process of combining high-grade asphalt with synthetic rubber polymers, known as SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) to chemically rubberize the asphalt core of the shingle for greater strength and durability.

We use a similar process with our adhesive, combining asphalt with SEBS (Styrene-Ethylene-Butylene-Styrene) polymers. This process dramatically enhances asphalt’s natural stickiness for greater adhesive grip, while adding rubberlike elongation and resilience to resist thermal dry-out, enhancing both its adhesive properties to join the shingles together and cohesive properties to prevent them from separating from the roof.
